The Undergraduate Political Science Association (UPSA) of the University of Michigan is a non-partisan organization that acts as a liaison between undergraduate students and the Department of Political Science.
UPSA offers leadership and organizational experience to motivated undergraduate students and facilitates a more thorough understanding of politics and political issues on campus.
UPSA hosts several events each year including the Professor-Student Dinner, professor coffee hours, numerous workshops, social events, and our signature event, the Jack L. Walker Conference held in the winter semester. See our upcoming events.
My name is Eli Hoppes and I am the President of UPSA. I am currently a junior and am from the town of Portland, MI. I am double majoring in political science and history. I joined UPSA my freshmen year and served as it's treasurer for two years. I'm excited to continue UPSA's growth and I look forward to serving UPSA as it's President.
My name is Samantha Goldstein and I am a sophomore majoring in Political Science and minoring in Applied Statistics. I am particularly interested in the intersection of politics and data. In addition to working as UPSA's Secretary, I am also on the Editorial Board of The Michigan Daily. I live in Washington, DC and enjoy exploring the city's museums and watching biopics on Netflix.
I am a sophomore in the University of Michigan’s College of Literature, Science, and The Arts’ Honors Program. Through attending events like the Professor-Student Coffee Talks and the Presidential Debate Watch Parties, I learned more about the organization and my fellow members. This year I will be serving as Treasurer of UPSA. I look forward to connecting political science students to their department while helping grow UPSA.
Hi! I'm Sami, and I'm a sophomore studying political science, Spanish, and international studies. I'm the Event Planning Committee Chair on the UPSA Executive Board, so I will primarily be working this year on planning the Jack L. Walker Conference in the spring. If you have any interest in joining the Event Planning Committee, please reach out to me. Feel free to reach out if you also have any questions about UPSA, studying political science, or about UMich in general. Hope to see you in UPSA this year!
